This week, the Venezuelan authorities forced the country’s Transparency International chapter to cease its operations at home due to persecution and pressure. Now, our Venezuelan colleagues will <\/span>continue<\/span><\/a> their work in exile.<\/span><\/p>\n

We understand how difficult this path is. In 2023, the Russian authorities declared the Transparency International movement an “undesirable organization,” <\/span>forcing us<\/span><\/a> to continue our activities from abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Venezuelan government’s actions demonstrate the ongoing degradation of political systems that suppress dissent, crackdown on civil society, and dismantle accountability mechanisms. Venezuela already <\/span>ranks<\/span><\/a> among the lowest in the CPI 2024, reflecting not only the scale of the problem but also the high corruption risks exacerbated by repression against anti-corruption organizations. When authorities fear transparency and accountability, they attempt to silence those who fight for justice. However, repression does not stop those who are committed to integrity and responsibility to society. Transparency International Venezuela continues its vital mission of demonstrating courage and resilience when facing persecution.<\/span><\/p>\n
